Our farmers follow the principles of biodynamic agriculture, a method that has been researched and practiced for over 80 years worldwide.
Biodynamic agriculture is similar to organic farming in the sense that it is chemical free. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides, no antibiotics or growth hormones are used.
The biodynamic techniques go a step further than organic methods by using specially prepared sprays made from organic matter such as herbs, quartz crystal, and compost. These sprays which are known as biodynamic preparations, bring nutrients to the soil and increase the vitality and sustainability of the plant and animal life on the farm.
The biodynamic approach is known as “medicine for the earth.” We are confident that this medicine is best for our land, our animals, and the health of our farmers and customers.
Foxhollow Farm is not currently designated as a biodynamic farm by the Demeter certification body, but it is these methods and values that drive the practical farming and decision making for Foxhollow Farm.
